The Academy of Political Studies together with a group of civil society organizations initiated a meeting with the State Commissioner of Elections, Mr. Ilirjan Celibashi, with a focus on the election process for local government bodies on May 14, 2023.
A joint document with recommendations on the improvement of the sub-legal framework and its implementation by the CEC on misuse of state resources, financing of political parties during the election campaign and equal access of male and female candidates to party finances, verification of mayoral candidates and the municipal council, was drafted on this occasion as an opportunity to improve the problems encountered in the past elections.
The meeting was attended by Mrs. Erida Skėndaj, Albanian Committee of Helsinki, Mrs. Edlira Ēepani, Women's Network Equality In Decision-Making, Mr. Afrim Krasniqi, Institute of Political Studies, Mr. Erjon Tase, Academy of Political Studies and Mr. Rigels Xhemollari, Civic Resistence.
The commissioner, after acquainting them with the work and measures taken by the CEC for better organization and better administration of the election process, expressed his willingness to cooperate in addressing any problem encountered, as well as evaluating their suggestions.
