The Central Election Commission Albania joined over 40 countries that use the BRIDGE international standard for the certification of its staff. 18 CEC election administrators and other local and international trainers with expertise in civic education, successfully completed the 9-day training and secured the BRIDGE partially accredited facilitator certificate. The ceremony was greeted by the head of the office of the Council of Europe in Tirana, Mrs. Jutta Gutzkow and the program coordinator for Europe of International IDEA, Mr. Erik Asplund.

The main objective of this certification is to increase the capacities of the CEC in providing modern, qualitative and effective training and education programs to improve participation in elections and electoral administration. The adoption of the BRIDGE methodology is expected to diversify and modernize the methods of providing training to the CEC but also to experts contracted by it, based on the principles of learning for adults and contemporary standards updated by the experience of electoral bodies in 40 countries.

The Academy of Political Studies (ASP) implemented this training with the support and in close partnership with the Council of Europe and the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA), under the guidance of accredited experts Doina Bordeianu, Zage Filiposki and Corneliu Pasat.
